Omics data analysis has a key role in biomedical research and has gained increasing importance for precision medicine. During this course students will learn the fundamental principles and methodologies for the bioinformatics analysis of functional genomics data in order to be able to exploit the analyses possibilities of user-friendly tools (such as those offered by GEO, DepMap, cBioPortal) as well as effectively interact and cooperate with bioinformaticians for questions that cannot be answered with these tools. In the course, frontal lectures will be accompanied by practical sessions. This is an introductory-level course, thus no previous bioinformatics knowledge is required.

Making an impact with your posterThis workshop takes participants through the process of creating a research poster. It begins with guidance on developing an initial concept based on the individual research story and the target audience. Participants are then introduced to key techniques in scripting, layout and design. Finally, they learn how to develop a 60-90 second elevator pitch, deliver this to their peers, and receive individual feedback on their performance. |

RegistrationDates: 24.06.2025 | Die freie Software „R“ (www.r-project.org) bietet eine mächtige Softwareumgebung für die statistische Datenauswertung und Grafikerzeugung. Bereits einfache R-Programme ermöglichen die Nutzung und Automatisierung zahlreicher Analysemethoden, die sich für vielfältige medizinische und wissenschaftliche Anwendungsfälle eignen. Diese eintägige Schulung erläutert die Besonderheiten von R-Syntax, die Bedeutung der Programmierung für nachvollziehbare Datenauswertungen, elementare R-Datenstrukturen und R-Funktionen, sowie Methoden für reproduzierbare R-Auswertungen. Ebenso wird auf die Erzeugung publikationsfähiger Grafiken und Tabellen eingegangen. Anhand einfacher Beispiele üben die Teilnehmer das Laden und gezielte Adressieren tabellarisch strukturierter Daten, wenden elementare R-Funktionen zur grafischen und statistischen Analyse strukturierter Patientendaten an, und lernen unterschiedliche Wege kennen, sich zu spezifischeren R-Funktionen und Bibliotheken selbständig zu informieren. Zielgruppe: Ihr Bedarf an grafischen bzw. statistischen Datenanalysen übersteigt die gängigen Bordmittel herkömmlicher Tabellenkalkulationssoftware. Voraussetzung: Keine Berührungsängste gegenüber einfacher Programmierung (Syntax). Falls vorhanden: Bitte eigenes Notebook mit installiertem R und RStudio mitbringen: (https://posit.co/download/rstudio-desktop/) Die Anmeldung erfolgt über das IT Schulungsprogramm des Medizinischen Zentrums für Informations- und Kommunikationstechnik (MIK). Für Mitglieder des IZKF-Graduiertenkollegs und des IZKF Medizindoktorandenprogramms steht ein gewisses Kontingent zur Verfügung. Bis dahin können Kurskosten vom IZKF übernommen werden.
