IZKF actively encourages the use of modern “omics” technologies in the subprojects, such as those used in the Core Unit Ultra Deep Sequencing. Since these experiments are quite expensive and consumables within IZKF projects are restricted to € 15,000 (indivdual and junior projects) and €35,000 (tandem projects), additional support is available. Costs for consumables are supported with up to € 10,000 per project. A co-payment is expected and can be paid out of project funds. The co-payment depends on the total amount and should be at least 30%. Exceptions are services provided by OICE, PIPE and FACS. Services from core units NGS, METAB, MACE and CUBiDA can be covered. The High Tech Pool is primarily for analyses/services of the mentioned core units at the site and not for in-house implementation in the laboratory (e.g. KITs).

Active Members of Clinician Scientist Programme – Step 2

The project is funded by IZKF.
At the time the application is submitted, the use of chip technology or the like is already explicitly planned (i.e. set out in the application) or is suggested by the project topic itself.
The granted funds have to be spent within the project term.

cover the costs of purchasing chips and chip analysis, as well as purchasing peptides and other essential requirements. A co-payment is expected and can be paid out of project funds. The co-payment depends on the total amount and should be at least 30%.
IZKF has an annual budget of 100,000 euros for this.

How to apply:

An English proposal must be submitted to the IZKF Administration Office in order to receive funds from the High Tech Pool. Please use the template for the proposal. The application should contain information on the issues addressed with these chip experiments, their relevance for the project goal as a whole, the number and type of chips, and the estimated costs. A co-payment is expected and can be paid out of project funds. The co-payment depends on the total amount and should be at least 30%. The chairperson of IZKF or the IZKF Management Board decides on whether funds are granted.

Specifying in the application that chip experiments are planned merely serves the purpose of setting out the estimated funds required for any given experiments. This means that applications for funds from the High Tech Pool can also be submitted for projects where it is not stated in the application that chip experiments are planned.

Handling

The application must be filed with the IZKF Administration Office in good time before the start of the work stage.
The chairperson or the Management Board decide on whether the application is granted. Applicants are informed of the decision by the IZKF Administration Office. Only once the chairperson or the Management Board has decided that funds will be granted can payment of invoices be arranged or any transfers be initiated.
Chips, peptides and other essential requirements are not invoiced to the sub-project’s cost unit but are paid via the pool cost center 29139003 which was set up especially for this purpose.
If funds that have been granted are not required, they remain in the pool and are reserved for other chip projects.
