{"id":6910,"date":"2023-04-28T13:51:10","date_gmt":"2023-04-28T11:51:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.izkf.med.fau.de\/?page_id=6910"},"modified":"2025-09-03T11:21:20","modified_gmt":"2025-09-03T09:21:20","slug":"clinician-scientist-programm","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.izkf.med.fau.de\/en\/nachwuchs\/clinician-scientist-programm\/","title":{"rendered":"Clinician Scientist Programme"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Clinician Scientist Programme<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Clinician Scientist Programme<\/strong> is aimed at physicians who are in their specialist training, would like to conduct their own research project and would like to continue their scientific education within the framework of a structured training programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The programme has a two-stage structure and is divided into CSP Step 1 and CSP Step 2.<br>CSP Step 2 is aimed at physicians who have already successfully acquired a third-party funded project or IZKF or Junior Project, or who have completed a post-doctoral stay abroad of at least 2 years, or who have successfully completed Step 1 or <span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">who can submit a confirmation of acceptance for the DFG-funded programme NOTICE<\/span><\/span><\/span>. An earlier change into Step 2 is possible under certain conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.izkf.med.fau.eu\/nachwuchs\/clinician-scientist-programme\/application-procedure\/admission-into-the-clinician-scientist-programme\/\">Applications for admission to the CSP may be made on an ongoing basis<\/a>. When applying for participation, the confirmation letter of the rotation must already be available at the time of application.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.izkf.med.fau.eu\/nachwuchs\/clinician-scientist-programme\/application-procedure\/call-for-proposals-izkf-rotation-for-the-clinician-scientist-programme\/\">Applications for rotation positions&nbsp; for admission to the Clinician Scientist Programme<\/a> (Step 2 module) are possible no later than three weeks before the meeting of the IZKF board.&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-rrze-elements-collapsibles \"><div class=\"accordion\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-rrze-elements-collapse \"><div class=\"accordion-group \"><h2 class=\"accordion-heading\"><button class=\"accordion-toggle\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-name=\"entry-requirements\" data-href=\"#entry-requirements\" type=\"button\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"entry-requirements-section\" id=\"entry-requirements\">Entry requirements<\/button><\/h2><div id=\"entry-requirements-section\" class=\"accordion-body \" aria-labelledby=\"entry-requirements\" role=\"region\" name=\"entry-requirements\"><div class=\"accordion-inner clearfix\">\n\n<p>For CSP Step 1 and CSP Step 2:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>successfully completed medical studies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>successfully completed doctorate to Dr. med. or Dr. med. dent. at the time of entry into the Clinician Scientist Programme. <span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">If proof of completed doctorate cannot yet be provided upon admission to the Clinician Scientist programme, it is possible to submit this within one year after admission to the programme (applies only to the Step 1 module).<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">In this case, the opening of the doctoral thesis must be proven.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">specialist training that has already begun at the time of entry into the CSP, which should not yet be completed<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">at least one original publication as first author<\/span><\/span><\/span> should be published<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>suitable scientific environment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>own research project<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">funding approval for the required leave of absence and other project relevant requirements (consumables, workplace, etc.)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, for CSP Step 2:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Completion of CSP Step 1 (or certificate of a comparable training programme at another university) or<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">scientifically reviewed third-party funded project or ELAN\/IZKF project or<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">the confirmation for admission to the DFG-funded programme NOTICE or<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>at least 2 years of post-doc experience abroad and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>at least 2 years of specialist training<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>An earlier change from CSP Step 1 into CSP Step 2 is possible on application under the following conditions<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>At least 2 years of specialist training and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>personally obtained IZKF- or third party funded project<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In principle, an early change is subject to a case-by-case examination and decision. Achievements performed in CSP Step 1 are to be assigned to CSP Step 1 and cannot be credited to CSP Step 2. Candidates who have been in the habilitation process for more than two years or who have already undergone interim evaluation by the Fachmentorat (Mentoring Committee) cannot be accepted.<\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-rrze-elements-collapse \"><div class=\"accordion-group \"><h2 class=\"accordion-heading\"><button class=\"accordion-toggle\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-name=\"programme-modules\" data-href=\"#programme-modules\" type=\"button\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"programme-modules-section\" id=\"programme-modules\">Programme Modules<\/button><\/h2><div id=\"programme-modules-section\" class=\"accordion-body \" aria-labelledby=\"programme-modules\" role=\"region\" name=\"programme-modules\"><div class=\"accordion-inner clearfix\">\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Protected research time of at least 12 months full-time (or equivalent in part-time), supplemented by a research time of 25% for a further 2 years or 50% for a further year (if necessary by clinic, flexible handling) \u2192 usually divided into 6 months CSP Step 1 rotation and 12 months CSP Step 2 rotation; in case of direct entry into CSP Step 2 or on request to complete solely within the framework of the CSP Step 2. <span class=\"VIiyi\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"JLqJ4b ChMk0b\" data-language-for-alternatives=\"en\" data-language-to-translate-into=\"de\" data-phrase-index=\"0\" data-number-of-phrases=\"1\">In order to obtain the certificate for the Step 2 module, an exemption of a total of 18 months is mandatory, even if you started directly in Step 2. The maximum laboratory rotations financed by the IZKF over the entire scientific career is limited to 18 months.&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mentoring Commission consisting of at least 2 habilitated leaders of working groups from different clinics\/institutes and proven in the respective field of research<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Supervision agreement<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Active participation in external congresses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Participation in network meetings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Participation in locally organized guest speaker seminars<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Interdisciplinary training<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Internal retreat<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Annual project reports<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Public relations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Funding of stays abroad within the framework of IZKF travel grants<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span class=\"VIiyi\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"JLqJ4b ChMk0b\" data-language-for-alternatives=\"en\" data-language-to-translate-into=\"de\" data-phrase-index=\"0\" data-number-of-phrases=\"3\">Access to the IZKF travel and publication pool<\/span> <\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span class=\"VIiyi\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"JLqJ4b ChMk0b\" data-language-for-alternatives=\"en\" data-language-to-translate-into=\"de\" data-phrase-index=\"2\" data-number-of-phrases=\"3\">for members of Step 2: High Tech Pool<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-rrze-elements-collapse \"><div class=\"accordion-group \"><h2 class=\"accordion-heading\"><button class=\"accordion-toggle\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-name=\"panel_49896357\" data-href=\"#panel_49896357\" type=\"button\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"panel_49896357-section\" id=\"panel_49896357\">Start, end and duration of programme<\/button><\/h2><div id=\"panel_49896357-section\" class=\"accordion-body \" aria-labelledby=\"panel_49896357\" role=\"region\" name=\"panel_49896357\"><div class=\"accordion-inner clearfix\">\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><tbody><tr><td>&nbsp;<\/td><td><strong>CSP Step 1<br><\/strong><\/td><td><strong>CSP Step 2<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Start of programme<\/strong><\/td><td>Directly after admission<\/td><td>Flexible up to 6 months preparation phase<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Rotation<\/strong><\/td><td>rotation flexible, 6 months<\/td><td>rotation at the latest 6 months after the start of programme<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>End of programme<\/strong><\/td><td>After 2 years at the latest or with admission to CSP Step 2<\/td><td>End of programme with completion of the research project, the specialist training and proof of regular participation in the training modules<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-rrze-elements-collapse \"><div class=\"accordion-group \"><h2 class=\"accordion-heading\"><button class=\"accordion-toggle\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-name=\"panel_e8d7fc94\" data-href=\"#panel_e8d7fc94\" type=\"button\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"panel_e8d7fc94-section\" id=\"panel_e8d7fc94\">Rotation position\/ protected research time<\/button><\/h2><div id=\"panel_e8d7fc94-section\" class=\"accordion-body \" aria-labelledby=\"panel_e8d7fc94\" role=\"region\" name=\"panel_e8d7fc94\"><div class=\"accordion-inner clearfix\">\n\n<p><span id=\"page287R_mcid8\" class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The CSP is supported by the IZKF.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">It relies on the provision of rotation positions and leave of absence by the IZKF, the local research associations and the clinics themselves. Clinician Scientist Programmes financed by third-party donors can be integrated into the CSP of the IZKF.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span id=\"page287R_mcid15\" class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Application procedure with IZKF rotation position<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span id=\"page287R_mcid16\" class=\"markedContent\"><\/span><span id=\"page287R_mcid17\" class=\"markedContent\"><\/span><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><span id=\"page287R_mcid17\" class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The physicians funded with a junior project will be included in the CSP Step 2 if possible.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">An application for direct admission to the CSP Step 2 with the provision of a rotation position (100% \u00c41 over 12 months) is possible on an ongoing basis.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">In addition, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.izkf.med.fau.eu\/nachwuchs\/rotationsprogramm\/\">further rotation positions<\/a> are available at the IZKF for a maximum of 6 months.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The maximum leave of absence from the IZKF over the entire scientific career is limited to 18 months.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span id=\"page1R_mcid0\" class=\"markedContent\"><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span id=\"page287R_mcid15\" class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Application procedure without IZKF rotation position<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><span id=\"page1R_mcid2\" class=\"markedContent\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Applicants who have a confirmation for a protected research time from other funds (e.g. DFG, Gerok positions SFBs, clinic, etc.) will be accepted into the programme on an ongoing basis upon application.<\/span><\/span><\/span><br><\/span><\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Clinician Scientist Programme The Clinician Scientist Programme is aimed at physicians who are in their specialist training, would like to conduct their own research project and would like to continue their scientific education within the framework of a structured training programme.
